The Cotswolds

Chipping Norton

Chipping Norton was once a very important centre for the wool trade and as such was granted a charter by King John to hold a fair to sell wool. St. Mary's Church is a beautiful 15th century building. Just along from the church, you can see the Almshouse's with their unusual stone entrance. The Town Hall was built in the mid 1800's using part of an existing building. In the 18th century, a large mill (Bliss Mill) was built by the Bliss family. This has now been converted into luxury flats and is a most attractive albeit unusual building.

Other attractions include a small theatre, restaurants, inns and museums.
