The Cotswolds

Icomb

Icomb is situated just outside Stow-on-the-Wold. In the 17th century, Icomb was a hiding place for brigands. Three men (Tom, Dick and Harry) from a respectable family operated from Icomb, using an old quarry shaft under their cottage. During a robbery Dick lost an arm and was never heard of again. Tom and Harry went to the gallows in 1785. In the Parish Church (1249), the tomb of Sir John Blaket who gained the highest honours fighting with King Henry V at Agincourt.

Nowadays, Icomb is a peaceful village with wonderful properties to see and fabulous walks all around the village and beyond. On the day of my visit - late in October, the sun was shining gloriously and the sweet aroma of burning wood , presumably from wood burning stoves or fires could be smelt drifting on the clear autumn air.
