The Cotswolds

Lechlade

Lechlade is actually situated on the River Thames and the locks are used regularly by pleasure craft. There is a large picnic area along the riverside and a bridge called Halfpenny Bridge, this being the charge for crossing when it was a Toll Bridge. The town itself is very pretty and has a wealth of things to see including verse by Shelly inscribed on stone at the entrance to the churchyard.
